Ecuador is in the heart of the Ring of Fire; a major highly seismic area at the Basin of the Pacific Ocean that experiences many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. At 6 pm on April 16, 2016 a 7.8 megathrust earthquake leveled much of the coastline, with the epicenter being in Pedernales and felt as far as in the capital, Quito, 110 miles away. All along the coast, cities have been flattented into wreckage and rubble. On May 18 aftershocks with 6.7 and 6.8 magnitudes were felt and rattled the already traumatized region. The devastation has destoyed water systems and lives. People are living in tent cities and have no access to clean water. The condition for people affected by this disaster is unimaginalable suffering. Waves 4 Water has launched a full scale clean-water disaster relief initiative. By delivering water filters to this area; people who have lost their homes now have access to clean water that was previously littered with mosquitoe larvae.

Ethan Lovell is resident photographer for Waves 4 Water, an organization dedicated to providing clean water to everyone on the planet. 1 in 9 people on Earth do not have access to clean water; help Waves 4 Water change the world. Currently the pressing need is in Chile where wild fires have ravished the country into ash. Ethan Lovell (b. 1981) lives and works in Venice and throughout the world with Waves 4 Water.
